The Sound of Music and Salzburg

This morning I took part in the very popular Sound of Music bike tour (highly recommend if you ever find yourself in the area!). We stopped by many of the sights that were featured in the movies – here are some photos that I took side-by-side with stills from the movie!

Fraulein Maria gaining confidence by splashing a stone horse

Leisl’s first kiss

The “Do Re Mi” fountain

Coming to the Von Trapp House

I have confidence in sunshine…and my ability to do Maria’s heel click!

The inspiration for the Nazi escape scene

Nonnberg Abbey

It was so much fun to take the Fraulein Maria Bike Tour and see all the sites – famous both in the town of Salzburg and in the film. I can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone who is visiting! The tour guides are knowledgable and love to share information about behind the scenes of the movie (Gretl getting fat, the Captain drunk in the last scene, etc.) Missing Salzburg and all these gems!

Thanks for making it all the way down here! Like what you read or have a question to ask? Comment here!
